Washington State Bookstores Tour: Riverwalk Books

There is a lovely town a few hours away from Seattle that is a home to a beautiful lake, mountains and wine country.

This is Chelan, Washington.

There is also an amazing bookstore known as Riverwalk Books.

The upstairs children’s section is like a bookcase entryway into adventure!

Not to mention the little accents that only independent bookstores have.

I’m jealous that my own hometown doesn’t have such a wonderful space for books. Granted, I am close to a major city, so there are plenty of indie’s around. Still, the owner is kind and helpful. I picked up Marissa Meyer’s Cinder, prepping for opportunity to get her entire series signed since she’s local to Washington.

I look forward to more adventures browsing Riverwalk Books!

Washington State Bookstore tour: Seattle Mystery Bookshop

There is a place where only mysteries are sold. From the beginning with Agatha Christie to modern day standouts such as The Cuckoo’s Calling, you can find anything and everything you’re looking for.

SMB front

Welcome to Seattle’s Mystery Bookshop!

SMB sign

Just up the hill from the opening of Pioneer Square, SMB has an impressive space that is wall to wall of everything that is mystery books!

SMB entrance

Enter along the ?, and begin your browsing! This fantastic bookshop has sections of everything from by author to YA and even the silly formulaic mysteries organized by topic, such as cooking, or cats.

SMB YA

The staff are warm, welcoming, host local mystery writer events all the time and if they by chance don’t have what you want, they will order anything you wish! It doesn’t have to be a mystery. For a local bookshop that only sells one genre type, it’s a small but fantastic key aspect that ensures their happy customers keep coming back for more. I wish I lived closer so I could make this my local!

SMB books

Whether you live in Seattle or happen to pass by for a visit, please pay this lovely shop a few minutes of your attention! It’s totally worth it even if you don’t normally read mysteries. Branch out! Try something new! And please help support fantastic local bookshores like Seattle Mystery Bookshop!

Here’s the info:

“Books Are My Bag is the biggest ever campaign for bookshops and it launches with the Big Bookshop Party on Saturday 14th September. That’s when you can go and visit your favourite bookshop, join in their party, buy your books, and bag the coolest tote bag ever – the bright orange Books Are My Bag tote! Show your love of books by visiting your local bookshop, the best place to connect with books, where you can see them, smell and touch them, talk about them with people who care as much as you do… There is nothing quite like a bookshop, and we want to share the love by inviting you to visit your local bookshop, taking a photo of yourself and then telling us WHY it’s your favourite bookshop. You could win your own bespoke bookmark, featuring your comment and photo, to be given out by your favourite shop!”

Oh how jealous I am! How I wish I could take part!

Although we don’t have such a cool event here in the US, that shouldn’t stop us or anywhere else in the world from supporting their local bookstore on the 14th!

Happy book hunting!
